I am looking for somewhere with space for a large polytunnel, terraces for organic veg, some sort of watertight house or shelter, perhaps some outbuildings or ruins for animals, but most importantly, running fresh water.
I ran an outdoors activities business in the middle Atlas mountains of Morocco for three years, so basic doesn’t bother me, and I am carrying all of the equipment to make sure off-grid living isn’t too tough. On leaving Morocco I decided to go self sufficient in Europe so I joined WWOOF and spent three months on a small organic farm in France learning the ropes of intensive organic agriculture. I have been studying Permaculture for the last year and my aim is to launch a veg basket scheme or AMAP as its know in France later in the year as the greenhouse and veg gardens come on line.
I would also consider perhaps joining up with an ongoing project along the lines of an eco village type thing. Basically I have the equipment and experience Im missing the land and decided to invest my smallish budget in the equipment to work the land rather than buy a piece of land and sit there with no money to bring it into production.
Thanks for your help, and let me know if anything else comes to mind.
Best regards
Fraser

Hi Fraser, is France possible for you? What size land do you want? an acre? Also, how long do you want to do it for?
Cheers,
Stuart
Dear Fraser, is Algarve ( south of Portugal ) good for you? II have a plot with 3000 sqm of land with lot of vegetation and close to all amenities, there is a borehole and electricity + telephone ( this one pass in front of the land ), I am selling for 25 thousand euros. IT is located 30 minutes from Faro airport! Very good restaurants not far from there.
Hi Fraser,
I’ve just been passed your details from Pete down in Benfeita.
We have about 1.5 hectares in Caramulo mountains of central Portugal – mostly terraced, but some woodland and surrounded by forest and scrub land – south facing with a stream running down the border.
We have a number of buildings, mostly run-down, but one of which we live in – there is also a VW campervan parked on a terrace – with stunning views, it’s own water and power from our solar system – it’s also got a small kitchen.
We have a number of people coming or planning to come to stay with us to help out – but we’re ideally looking for people with projects, skills and / or equipment.
We’d love to meet you – that’s always a good way to start a relationship – are you anywhere near or willing to visit?

Hello Fraser
I have 14 hectors of valley with lots of terraces and water that has not been touched for 30 years near Lagos algarve.I am open to ideas from selling to partnership project.please let me know
Hi Simon,
Did you speak with Fraser about this. Is he interested. Otherwise, I would be interested. You can write to me at Ginashw@aol.com. I/we are looking for buying or partnership opportunities either in the Algarve or Central Portugal. We like the Lagos area but would consider near Lisbon/Lisbon coast/Nazare/Caldas do Raina (sp? area or anywhere with a warm micro-climate where we can product sub-tropical and maybe tropical fruits as we are largely fruitarians.
Thanks,
Gina
